Job Summary :

Virtus Healthcare Staffing is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Genetic Counselor to join our partner hospital in Philadelphia, PA.

In this role, you will perform genetic risk assessments, provide genetic counseling to individuals and families at risk for inherited genetic disorders, and guide patients through risk management strategies.

You will play a key role in recruiting patients for high-risk assessment programs and support enrollment in appropriate research projects.

The position also involves participating in community outreach, program development, and collaborative research projects.

Key Responsibilities :

Conduct genetic risk assessments for patients and families to identify potential genetic disorders.

Provide comprehensive genetic counseling services to individuals and families, discussing inheritance patterns, potential risks, and available options for disease management and prevention.

Assist in recruiting patients for high-risk assessment programs and facilitate research enrollment for eligible participants.

Participate in program meetings and contribute to the ongoing development of genetic counseling programs.

Provide community outreach by educating the public and healthcare providers about genetic counseling services and inherited genetic disorders.

Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare providers, including physicians, nurses, and other specialists, to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient interactions and genetic risk assessments in the electronic health record (EHR) system.

Stay current with the latest developments in the field of genetics, including advancements in genomic testing and personalized medicine.

Contribute to research projects and participate in initiatives aimed at improving patient care and advancing the field of genetic counseling.

Qualifications :

Education Requirements :

Master's Degree in Genetic Counseling or a related field (Required)

Experience :

2+ years of experience in genetic counseling (Preferred)

Certification and Licensure :

Certification by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) or eligibility for certification (Required)

Licensed to practice in the state of Pennsylvania as a Genetic Counselor, or has successfully attained a temporary provisional Genetic Counselor License with the intent to sit for the ABGC examination within 90 days of hire, or has applied for licensure in Pennsylvania.
