Overview
A Material Handler / Loader serves our guests by correctly and efficiently loading the retail merchandise onto trailers for shipment to our Cracker Barrel retail stores to replenish store inventory and fulfill needed store supplies.
As merchandise is automatically sorted and conveyed to its designated trailer, the Material Handler / Loader loads full cases and totes of merchandise by hand from floor to ceiling of the trailer using proper loading techniques without damage.
Essential job functions include but are not limited to the following :
- Loads assigned trailers in an efficient and safe manner
- Uses load sheets to ensure that indicated inventory is present and loaded correctly into trailers
- Ensures that merchandise is loaded in a safe manner for transport and unloading at stores
- Meets company standards of safety, quality, production, attendance and workplace behavior while efficiently loading merchandise into retail trailers
- Maintains a clean and organized workspace
- Follows distribution center operational policies and procedures, including those for safety and security, to ensure the safety of all associates and visitors throughout the day
- Maintains the Pleasing People mission by following Cracker Barrel Rules of Conduct
- Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep store operating to standard and to set a positive example
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance
Responsibility
- Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Available to work flexible hours that may include early mornings and Saturdays
- Meet DC operating policies of safety and security, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Available to perform various different tasks within the DC during each shift
Qualifications
- Be able to communicate with coworkers and managers effectively
- Stand and walk for long periods of time
- Lift up to 50 pounds
- Work at a pace consistent with changing business volume and demands
- Ability to learn quickly
