Job description : *Position Purpose*This position administers the prescribed therapeutic radiation dose to a predetermined treatment area forpatients.
The incumbent is also accountable for the localization procedures necessary for preparing thepatients for radiation treatments.
The incumbent provides support, education and teaching to cancerpatients and their families and are also required to assist in onboarding new team members and educatestudents.
Nature and Scope*The incumbent is challenged to evaluate and prioritize his / her job and must demonstrate the knowledgeand skills necessary to provide care, based upon physical, motor / sensory, psychosocial, and safetyappropriate to the age of the patient served.
The incumbent must provide optimal patient care throughassessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients andfamilies and will meet standards of quality as measured by the unit / department age specific competencystandards.
The incumbent is challenged to be exceedingly accurate in all tasks, realizing the effects ofhis / her tasks. The incumbent is ultimately responsible for administering radiation, performing localization,basic dosimetry, custom block fabrication, charting, performing nursing and secretarial support and otherrelated tasks.
The position is required to operate linear accelerators and simulators. This position mustalso operate electronic health records, record and verify system and other software programs within thedepartment.
In addition, the position requires skin instruction proficiency, phone, and EMR skills.This position is responsible to annually demonstrate proficiency in body mechanics, fire safety, infectioncontrol, patient safety and CPR.
Incumbent must complete annual core competencies, specific todepartment workflow, to work on completion of the Core RT Competency and the Development LadderSkills for this level upon completion of Staff RT requirements.
The Core RT Competency andDevelopment Ladder will be completed within 3 months of completion of Staff requirements and thenassessed annually after the first completion. Qualifications :
