Position Summary & Duties : The Accounting Manager is a direct-hire position working for a specialty manufacturing client in the Vidalia, LA area .
The Accounting Manager will join the client's finance team in supporting the Financial Controller to shape the developing finance function and partner with key stakeholders across the company.
Accounting Manager Key Responsibilities
Project Cost Accounting :
- Prepare annual operating and project cost budgets with input from operations teams.
- Manage monthly financial and capital cost reports, including budget and cost analysis with data-driven insights.
- Develop cost estimates for project contracts and work packages.
- Reconcile project cost reports with the accounting system and ensure all costs are captured.
- Lead monthly cost reviews with Project Management to ensure accurate cost tracking and forecasting.
- Update and explain project forecasts, including cash flow profiles for corporate funding.
- Review purchase requisitions and major contracts for progress billings and variations.
- Approve third-party invoices and close out contracts with final claims.
General Finance Responsibilities :
- Oversee off-site accounting staff and manage timely completion of month-end reporting.
- Manage fixed assets, tax depreciation, and finance-related regulatory reporting.
- Prepare and submit monthly sales tax reports to the State of Louisiana and Concordia Parish.
- Collect data to secure business incentives like the Industrial Property Tax Exemption and Quality Jobs programs.
- Build relationships with banking partners and regulatory stakeholders.
- Design and implement financial reporting processes and facilitate ERP system improvements.
- Support business case development for expansion plans and contribute to well-controlled local finance functions.
- Facilitate tax filings and perform special assignments as needed by management.
Qualifications :
Accounting Manager Requirements
- Degree in Accounting, Commerce or Engineering (project management qualification will be an advantage)
- Minimum 10-15 years experience in Cost Control / Business Analysis / Financial Accountant role in a project, construction and industrial environment
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
- Experience with Pronto, SAP or similar other recognized ERP systems
- Ability to present cost and forecast information in a simple and intuitive manner
- Candidates must be within daily commuting distance of the Vidalia, LA area .
