- Learn operations of the Police Department first-hand through observation and participation in a wide variety of police activities.
- Serve in a training capacity while attending the Police Academy.

Below are the testing dates scheduled for this application period.
POPAT and Written Test Dates
- Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at 5 : 00 pm
- Thursday, November 21, 2024 at 5 : 00 pm

There is limited parking, please park in the lot directly south of the station. If the lot fills to capacity, vehicles may be parked along the front of the Police Department.
Testing Information
Below is information about the testing process.
- You are required to visit https : / / my.azpost.gov to create a profile and complete the AZPOST Personal History Form. When you RSVP for your test date, please also send your AZPOST ID Number.
- Appropriate attire for the entire testing date is physical fitness attire.
Written Test Standards
- Minimum passing score of 70%
- Applicants may only test once within this testing period. If they fail the test, they are eligible to re-take during a different testing period.
POPAT - Physical Test
- If an applicant does not pass the POPAT on their first attempt, they will be eligible to retake the test during the scheduled testing dates during this testing period.
- The POPAT consists of the following tests
- 99 Yard Obstacle Course
- Run a 99-yard obstacle course consisting of several sharp turns, a number of curb height obstacles, and a 34-inch high obstacle that must be vaulted
- Body Drag
- Lift and drag 165-pound, lifelike dummy 32 feet
- Chain-link Fence
- Run five yards to a six-foot, chain-link fence, climb over fence, continue running another 25 yards.
- Solid Fence Climb
- Run five yards to a six-foot solid fence, climb over fence, continue running another 25 yards
- 500 Yard Run
- Run 500 yards
Applicants that wish to practice the POPAT test are encouraged to attend the following scheduled POPAT practice dates. Physical Fitness Instructors will be available to help applicants complete the test.
No written test will be given on these dates.

- Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at 5 : 30 pm
- Thursday, November 7, 2024 at 5 : 30 pm
Oral Boards
Applicants that pass the POPAT and written tests are eligible to be scheduled for an oral board. Location and dates for the oral board are listed below.

Applicants will be scored based on the following criteria. After each testing dates, the applicants will be ranked and backgrounds will be processed rank order.

- At least 21 years old by time of academy graduation
- Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent
- Be able to pass a police background check
- Be able to pass a polygraph test
- Be able to obtain an AZPOST certification
- Possess or able to obtain a valid AZ Driver's License
