Overview
and Responsibilities
- Manages production of respective area(s) at the Minneapolis plant.
- Ensures that production meets job estimates as well as quality and delivery levels consistent with performance goals and customer and regulatory requirements.
- Leads by example to deliver results to meet safety, quality, cost, delivery, and engagement goals as outlined in the Quality Management System (QMS).
Analyzes production performance & improvements in order to identify and direct activities to correct process inefficiencies.
Notifies Manufacturing Engineering of problems with tooling, equipment, processes and facilities to ensure efficient production, safety and cleanliness.
Ensures accurate time reporting for both payroll and job costing purposes.
- Performs all HR related activities for respective area(s) including but not limited to : time & attendance, hiring, performance management, training, team development, coaching, and recognition.
- Partners with Production Manager to promote and drive a safety culture to ensure safe workplace practices are implemented and followed.
Investigates near misses and workplaces accidents and injuries and implements corrective action as needed.
- Interfaces with Design Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering to resolve manufacturing problems and develop procedures for prototypes.
- Ensures the implementation of lean manufacturing principals on production floor and works with line leads to apply continued use of these principals through daily observation of production to support efforts to achieve cost reductions, quality improvements, and improved customer satisfaction.
- Executes production schedule and partner with scheduling, adapts to meet the customer needs. Identifies potential capacity related issues in order to meet on time delivery goals.
Provides regular communication on issues putting the production schedule at risk.
- Perform the task as needed
- Communicates across departments and shifts to ensure alignment and teamwork.
- Reinforce established processes for other departments including but not limited to : quality, inventory control, shipping, purchasing, and prototype.
- Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills and Attributes
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Management, or Operations preferred but not required
- Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification preferred
- Minimum 5 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in medical device manufacturing
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
- Previous experience working in an ISO certified facility or within a quality management facility preferred
