PRIMARY PURPOSE :
Under general supervision, assist in maintaining, repairing, and installing electrical systems, services, and equipment for the district.
Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of electrical systems and fixtures in district facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Minimum Education / Certification :
A high school diploma or GED
Valid Texas Driver’s License
Special Knowledge / Skills :
Organizational, communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills required to achieve
the goals of the position
Ability to maintain simple logs and records, as well as the ability to generate reports
Knowledge of electrical circuits, and wiring
Knowledge of current electrical codes and ordinances
Follow written and verbal instructions
Perform mathematical calculations
Diagnose and resolve problems
Use hand and power tools
Demonstrate general knowledge associated with given craft and ability to operate tools (hand
and power) in a safe and efficient manner

Tools / Equipment Used : Electrical measuring and testing equipment; hand tools;
power tools; vacuum pumps; light truck or van
Posture : Frequent standing, kneeling / squatting, bending / stooping, pushing / pulling,

Motion : Frequent walking, digging, climbing stairs / ladders / scaffolding,
grasping / squeezing, wrist flexion / extension, and overhead reaching; frequent

Lifting : Heavy lifting and carrying exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally,
and / or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and / or up to 10 pounds of force
constantly to repair and / or move equipment and objects; carry tools and ladders

Environment : Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces;
frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and
materials, high noise levels, vibration, and electrical hazards; work around

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES :
- Perform tasks associated with receiving information and entering appropriate data in equipment repair spreadsheet in order to create schedules of work for assigned equipment maintenance and repairs.
- Assist with troubleshooting on site repairs.
- Assist with repairing, maintaining and rebuilding district-wide equipment.
- Operate specialized power tools including, but not limited to electrical drills, grinders, and saws.
- Prepare correspondence, lists, work orders, etc., using prescribed format.
- Review specifications on performance of equipment.
- Test repaired equipment for compliance with both safety and manufacturer’s standards.
- Perform general equipment maintenance activities.
- Respond to emergency repairs for on site service.
- Utilize mathematical formulas; to add and subtract; multiply and divide.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing.
- Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
- Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment to make sure equipment is in safe operating condition.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all local policies and state and federal statutes including the Educator Code of Ethics.
- Perform such other tasks and accepts such other responsibilities as may be assigned.
