Position Summary
The Youth Enjoy Science (YES) Program Manager will directly oversee the YES program by managing faculty, staff and students across multi-disciplinary UNMC colleges and departments and stakeholders external to UNMC including tribal representatives, tribal and public school staff, educators, students and community members in Nebraska, South Dakota, Montana and Arizona to develop, implement, and evaluate cancer-related science curricula and research experiences aimed to promote student interest in the sciences, address Native American cancer-related health disparities, and ultimately develop our regional and national workforce by increasing the number of Native Americans entering health professions and research careers with a particular emphasis in cancer.
Will build YES program capacity by supervising student participants in research experiences and fostering communication, partnership, and bi-directional knowledge sharing between the YES program and all stakeholders.
Manage and disseminate all existing and new YES program curriculum, including research, education and training and professional development opportunities in collaboration with local and national schools, tribes, academic institutions, organizations and other stakeholders.
Will be responsible for overseeing all program data management and evaluation, including managing data collection and dissemination with YES staff, an external evaluator, internal and external stakeholders and the National Cancer Institute’s National Program Office.

Emphasis in Environmental Health Preferred Experience :
- Experience with implementing community wellness health promotion initiatives targeting STEAM classes
- Experience with community-based participatory research
- Experience working with Native American populations
- Experience working with public schools and out-of-school program organizations
- A minimum of one year of recent experience performing educational programming tasks with the urban Native American community
- Possess knowledge, understanding and respect with regard to the values and beliefs of Native Americans
- Possess strong written and oral communication, excellent interpersonal communications and group facilitation skills
- Possess knowledge of / ability to develop knowledge of the following : Cancer Biology, Native American Health and Wellness, Cancer Prevention and Treatment and local and community social services.
