Our network of programs is designed to work in tandem to meet people at every stage of their need, with a special focus on three core populations : cis and transgender women, older adults, and those with severe medical or mental health needs.

Currently, our wide range of services includes a mental health outpatient clinic, a gender-specific wellness and recovery program, permanent supportive housing, a medical respite program, and the only 24 / 7 drop-in center for women experiencing homelessness in San Francisco.

Our mission is to help the most vulnerable individuals get off the streets, find comprehensive services, and achieve the stability they need to thrive.

Position Summary : As part of the Development team, the Institutional Giving Coordinator will play a vital role in helping Community Forward SF achieve its goal to grow and deepen our impact in the San Francisco area by managing relationships with institutional funders.

This position is responsible for writing and submitting comprehensive proposals, managing grantor relationships, tracking grant requirements and milestones, completing timely reports, and managing internal records of Community Forward SF's private and public funding from institutional funders.

The Institutional Giving Coordinator works collaboratively and strategically with the members of the development team and the Director of Development.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS : Grant Writing & Reporting : Manage grants processes from prospect research to application planning, to application compilation and submission, to award review, signature, and tracking.

Identify and evaluate all potential public and private grant opportunities, present them to the DoD and CIO and demonstrate application of financial alignment, program and service sustainability, strategic alignment, implementation needs / requirements, and application complexity / requirements.

Develop, write, and submit letters of inquiry, grant proposals, budgets, and periodic and final reports. Create and maintain a master calendar of grant applications, commitments, and reports.

Oversee all grant reporting, working with staff across the organization to ensure grant and donor requirements are met, and necessary data is collected, documented, and reported.

Maintain a comprehensive record of all pending, awarded, and declined grants using CRM or other designated organizational database.

Portfolio Management and Stewardship : Build and maintain relationships with a portfolio of corporate foundations, private foundations, and government funders.

Partner with the Director of Development, VP of Development and Executive Leadership to support the management of institutional funder relationships.

In partnership with the Director, set strategic targets for institutional funding and work to identify new opportunities.

Employ appropriate stewardship including written and electronic communications, site visits, and in-person meetings to manage relationships with our foundation and government partners.

Work with the DoD and Development Coordinator to coordinate appropriate engagement opportunities tied to funding agreements.

Other responsibilities Other duties as assigned by the Director of Development and Chief Impact Officer. Provide hands-on event logistics support for annual friend raisers, fundraising and other development events.

Preferred Qualifications : Minimum of three years of work experience in grant writing and fundraising, preferably within a non-profit organization.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English, Journalism or Communications, or related field. Proven track record of securing grants from foundations, corporations, and government agencies.

Knowledge of funding prospects. Organized with strong attention to detail and superior problem-solving abilities Exceptional time-management and organizational skills, and ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

Ability to foster and maintain working relationships built on mutual trust and respect with staff, community members, guests and donors.

Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Ability to work independently under direct supervisor and collaboratively.

Technical savvy with a variety of office technologies (e.g., Google Suite, Zoom, Microsoft) Demonstrated ability and willingness to continuously acquire new competencies and accept new challenges.
