Role Overview

The Billing Specialist is responsible for supporting our Service team and Revenue Accountants on proper billing and recording in accordance with GAAP.

This team member also ensures alignment of services offered reflects proper timely revenue and expense recognition. This role is highly administrative in nature.

Scope of Work

• Supports our business units on billing in its entirety on a day to day and weekly basis
• Supports to ensure ASC 606 GAAP revenue and expense recognition is being followed and timing of revenue recognition is consistent with contract wording / services being provided
• Understands and applies billing / revenue accounting processes and practices
• Supports the preparation of complex client / supplier invoices
• Supports the initiative to strengthen and maintain efficiency of the accounting function by performing processes and procedures per policies laid out
• Supports implementation of process improvements and improvements of information to customers
• Supports answering account management questions related to client invoices
• Supports decrease number of days to close (goal tbd)
• Supports efforts to implement systems and processes to speed up processing time while maintaining accuracy and integrity of data
• Supports accounting system implementations and integrations
• Helps with the implementation and maintenance of SOPs / Policies for major accounting process
• Participates in cross functional training program
• Supports implementation of accounting flowchart for revenue and billing processes
• Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Applies basic knowledge to accomplish assigned tasks and processes. Proficient or developing proficiency in role.

• 2 years of comprehensive experience with complex billing
• Solid understanding of POC billing
• Excellent attention to detail and analytic and problem-solving skills
• Good organization and time management skills to meet deadlines
• Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively
• Experience with efficient processes and the use of technology
• Clear written and spoken communication skills with the ability to interact with all functions of a company
• Demonstrated success of working cross-functionally as well as independently
• Strong ability to take initiative, make decisions, and execute with minimal oversight
• Entrepreneurial and Operational mindset
• Ability to context-switch quickly and balance multiple projects at once
• Roll up your sleeves type personality- high level of ownership and accountability is a must!
• Experience with NetSuite is a plus but not a required
