The Pratt MLDP is a one-year rotational program for military leaders transitioning to civilian careers at Pratt Industries.
The program offers a unique opportunity to provide hands-on leadership in our operational areas while immersing themselves in the manufacturing environment.
Participating areas include, but are not limited to : Design, Customer Service, Quality, Logistics, Operations, Maintenance, and Finance.

The program includes on-the-job experiences, leadership mentoring, and formal web-based and classroom training. Participants will participate in a cohort format, traveling to specific locations across the organization to learn from other participants and share their common experiences.
Participants will also be supported with OTJ training and supplemental web-based training to speed up their operational knowledge in the Corrugating and Converting facilities.
Essential Responsibilities
- Specific job duties vary with each rotation.
- Participants apply previous experiences and expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives, and demonstrate the ability to contribute to short-term and some long-term business goals.
Individuals must be curious about the operation and be willing to ask questions of the team to learn. Individuals will be working on the manufacturing line in order to learn the positions they will lead in the future.
Must adapt quickly, meet rotational objectives, and quickly gain situational and organizational awareness in a dynamic safety-focused manufacturing environment.
Rotational duties vary according to functional area and may include, but are not limited to the duties as described :
- Maintain quality, efficiencies, and production levels set by management. Communicate these standards to your team, and learn how to drive operational excellence within the corrugating and converting operation.
- Shadow front line operations professionals to observe manufacturing processes and learn about the full cycle corrugated box process.
- Conduct process improvement and process management activities which include planning, performing, and implementing process improvement initiatives in addition to ownership processes for the manufacturing line.
- Process management functions may include data gathering and analysis, best practice research, process mapping, developing and recommending alternatives for improvement, developing performance metrics, obtaining leadership or stakeholder agreement, implementing improvements, and monitoring post-process improvement initiative performance to updated standards.
- Drive positive morale within the manufacturing environment by helping employees succeed in meeting performance objectives.
- Conduct presentations to all levels of employees.
- Participate in regular MLDP Program cohort meetings. Perform additional job duties as required.
- Participate in monthly check-ins with Pratt HR Transition Advisor to discuss progress in the program.
Requirements :
- Minimum 2 years as a mid-grade non-commissioned officer in the US Armed Forces (E4-E5)
- Willingness to travel domestically up to 25-35% during the rotational year
- Flexible with final location at the end of the rotational year location preferences will be taken into account as participants roll off of the program, but placement will be dictated by vacancy needs of the entire organization
