POSITION OBJECTIVES : Constructs, maintains, and tests mechanical equipment, machinery, and components. Identifies parts for replacement and machines that need new parts and places orders as necessary.
May be required to complete an apprenticeship and / or formal training in area of specialty. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals to perform a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision.
A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to Assembly Mechanic IV or Production Manager.
- Meet the requirements of Assembly Mechanic I.
- Build new pumps, provide assistance in the installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and controls.
- Maintain test standards and equipment in accordance with ISO procedures.
- Know, understand, and abide by environmental policies.
- Read Sales Order and Production Order to determine build requirements.
- Match materials provided by the Parts Department to Pick List before assembly.
- Build pump units and meet Production Schedule.
- After manufacturing, pre-test the unit before sending it to Quality Control for final testing.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- High School diploma or GED required; graduate of a technical / vocational training program is preferred. Industry Certification Preferred.
- Two years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in the operating principles of diesel engines and industrial hydraulic pumps, including diagnosing and troubleshooting.
- Experience with portable construction pumps, pipe fusing, dewatering and wastewater by-pass operations is highly desired
- Responsible for representing Thompson Pump & Manufacturing Co., Inc. in a professional, respectful, honest, and courteous manner with customers and co-workers.
- Responsible for professional levels of quality and quantity of work.
- Must have good working knowledge of D.C. electrical systems and troubleshooting.
- Must be knowledgeable in engine construction and operating principles for both gasoline and diesel engines.
- Required to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Requires the ability to read wiring diagrams and troubleshooting guides.
- The ability to work productively in teams as well as individually.
