As Scout’s Senior Financial Analyst, you will leverage your past experience in financial analysis of renewable energy and / or power sector projects to inform strategic decisions in every aspect of Scout’s business.

You will build project-specific models, refine and integrate inputs, and determine which scenarios to run based on your knowledge of the most important variables.

You will support day-to-day management of transactions and will represent Scout with authentic professionalism to all of our business partners and counterparties.

In short, you will help to improve Scout’s investment strategies across the entire portfolio of projects.

You will be responsible for project-based financial modeling and preparing documentation, reporting and analysis to assist investment decisions Your work will impact many functions across Scout, including :

  • Development : You will provide insight to the Development team about which inputs drive their projects’ financial performance so that they can adapt their development plans accordingly.
  • Origination : Your analysis will inform pricing strategies developed by the Origination team to ensure that the long-term revenue streams will contribute to target rates of return and integrate needed risk management strategies.
  • M&A and Project Finance : You will provide key support to M&A and project finance transactions. Beyond your financial analysis support, you will serve as an important point of interface with counterparties, advancing Scout’s negotiating position and initiating and responding to diligence requests.
  • Corporate Finance : While the bulk of your work will focus on project-level finance, you will also inform corporate-level financial modeling from time to time.

This may include integrating the results of the project models, conducting more specific analysis, preparing reports to our investors, and preparing board papers that present the case for alternative investment options.

We will rely on you to develop systems and tools to drive efficiency in our work. To do so, we expect that you will integrate the expertise you have developed in previous roles while continuing to advance your knowledge of our industry and innovation in renewable energy project finance.

You will report to Scout’s VP of Project Finance and will work alongside a high performing team of Analysts.

Key duties in your role will include the following :

  • Develop and maintain fully structured (tax equity, debt and cash equity) internal financial model with recent project and corporate assumptions.
  • Coordinate with many different departments internally to update financial models.
  • Leverage your subject matter expertise to direct and deliver scenario modeling for investment decisions and contract negotiations.
  • Support project finance and M&A transactions, including initiating and responding to due diligence and interfacing with investors and other counterparties and business partners.
  • Assist in building models, tools, process, and infrastructure that supports the organization's accuracy, efficiency and scalability.
  • Assist in managing construction loan drawdowns and financing agreement compliance.
  • Assist with project budgeting and corporate reporting.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience with project finance models in investment banking and / or the renewable energy industry, including modeling tax equity and debt structures.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel (including VBA), Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Independent learner who can quickly apply lessons learned in one area to all other work areas.
  • Self-motivator with exceptional leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and deliver top-quality work product in multiple areas without direct supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and to meet deadlines and complete time-sensitive duties.
  • Experience using influence rather than authority to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Scout aims to fill the Project Finance Senior Financial Analyst position this Summer or Early Fall depending on candidate availability.
  • Our ideal candidate is located in Boulder, Boulder is preferred but other locations may be considered for experienced candidates.

Timeline and Location

Our ideal candidate will be willing to work from our Boulder, Colorado, office at least three days per week. A remote work arrangement will be considered for the right candidate and will involve regular travel to our Boulder office.

Compensation

Target base salary : $95,000 - $115,000 (Negotiable for the right candidate.)
