The Assistant Controller is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting including overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department in their production of accurate periodic, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
With a solid understanding of GAAP Accounting, this integral manager maintains and implements necessary controls in operations, policies, and processes for optimal efficiency and risk avoidance for the company.
Responsibilities :
- Responsible for the accounting and review of period financials for multiple locations.
- Prepares financial statements to summarize and forecast the company's financial status.
- Produces and manages balance sheets and analyze future earnings and expenses.
- Hires, trains, develops and appraises staff effectively. Takes corrective action as necessary on a timely basis in accordance with company policy.
Consults with Human Resources as appropriate.
Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by researching existing and new legislation, consulting with outside advisors, and filing financial reports.
Advises management of actions and potential risks.
- Ensures compliance with and prepare reports according to applicable government regulations.
- Prepares work papers and oversees compliance of government tax / municipal filings and reporting.
- Prepares work papers and produces the journal entry(ies) for periodic payrolls.
- Coordinates with and prepares reports for CFO and upper management.
Accountabilities :
- Keeps up-to-date on information and technology affecting functional area(s) to increase innovation and ensure compliance.
- Manages budget and controls expenses effectively.
- Assists with management of accounting, auditing, and budgeting within the organization.
- Uses accounting software to maintain records and prepare reports.
- Works to reconcile accounting inaccuracies or imbalances.

- Protects assets by recommending, monitoring and enforcing internal controls.
- Guides financial decisions by recommending, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
- Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
- Assists with preparations for audits.

Education, Experience and Licensing Requirements :
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
- 10 years of accounting experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP Accounting Software
