Job Summary
Curriculum Specialist reports to the Curriculum Director and under their leadership will process program curriculum exceptions requests through the institutional approval process, manage exceptions communications and maintain decision database.
Curriculum Specialist may also assist with reviewing catalog content, perform data entry, and supports curriculum systems and processes.
This office is not responsible for curriculum development.
This position may work 20 hours per week. Essential Responsibilities and Duties
- Responsible for processing student petitions for curriculum exceptions.
- Responsible for routing curriculum exceptions to the appropriate programs for approval.
- Communicating decisions about curriculum exceptions to students and Graduation Office.
- Maintain database of curriculum exception decisions.
- Support the maintenance of SLCC General Catalog through data entry, proofreading, and formatting.
- Support other areas of Curriculum and Academic Systems (Scheduling, Transfer Articulation, Credit for Prior Learning) as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years of experience.
- Any combination of education and experience totaling 4 years with trade-offs 1 : 1 for experience / education.
Part-time experience considered on a prorated basis. Preferred Qualifications
- Completed a two-year degree (AA / AS / AAS degree or technical certificate) or higher from an accredited college or university
- Higher education work experience
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Experience in using Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and SharePoint
- Demonstrated ability to identify and troubleshoot data conflicts
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
- Strong attention to details
- Computer and data entry skills including experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability and willingness to become a skilled user of technological tools and reporting systems.
- Ability to interact successfully with associate deans, faculty, and staff throughout the institution.
- Familiarity with college resources and services such as catalog, curriculum, registration, and scheduling.
- Ability to interpret university / college / department policies and program information.
- Demonstrates initiative, teamwork, and conflict resolution skills.
- Interpersonal skills including, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
- Able to perform with minimal supervision and prioritize assignments.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
