Ridgeview is looking for a Director of Patient Care Services t o support our critical access hospitals in Arlington and Le Sueur, Minnesota.

Purpose of Job

This position is responsible for the total operations and management of all departments assigned to this position or specific nursing units / services within the patient care departments.

Accountable for planning, organizing, and coordinating patient care deliver to meet established standards. Responsible for the development and management of personnel and fiscal resources.

Serves in dyad Service Line leadership model with physician(s) to continually advance services, evidence-based practices, continuity and the patient / family experience in cost effective / efficient ways.

This position does require floating between our two critical access hospitals. (Le Sueur, MN and Arlington, MN)

Job Functions

1. Provides leadership and oversight of operations, programs and services within the designated departments. Develops programs, goals and objectives consistent with those of the organizations overall strategic plan and initiatives.

2. Develops operational and capital budgets, manages operating expenses and key indicators within the budget. Develops, implements, coordinates, monitors, evaluates and integrates designated department services that contribute to the overall success and financial viability.

Uses creativity in the delivery of services and products in a highly competitive market.

3. Plans, supports and leads quality improvement efforts consistent with RMC process improvement methods for designated departments in alignment with organizational goals.

4. Manages staff resources by overseeing the recruiting, selecting, hiring and orienting qualified individuals. Evaluates staff performance in an accurate, consistent, objective and timely manner.

Develops core position hiring strategies and ensures opportunities for professional development. Creates a cohesive department committed to providing distributive, clinical and service quality to all customers.

5. Develops and monitors applicable policies and procedures. Ensures compliance with local, state and federal regulatory agency standards.

CLINICAL ONLY) Accurately and completely documents patient assessment data and clinical interventions.

6. May participate on hospital and medical staff committees and serve as a professional resource for physicians, clinicians and leadership.

May also collaborate with physicians and clinicians. May represent designated departments, services, and Ridgeview Medical Center in community outreach including participation on committees and in doing presentations.

7. Responsible for the overall leadership of nursing professional practice.

8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education / Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree; graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience with progressive managing responsibilities
  • Experience in the appropriate clinical areas, that may include : Medical / Surgical, Maternal / Child Health, or Home Care

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree or equivalent in advanced professional study and / or experience with demonstrated leadership abilities

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop team
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills and ability to build strong working relationships at all levels
  • Assures excellent service with a high degree of urgency to internal and external customers
  • Systemic thinking when contemplating and implementing change
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite
  • Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above.

License / Certification

  • Current professional nurse licensure in Minnesota or if licensed in another state, a permit from the Minnesota Board of Nursing while the license application is in process
