Introduction
The Siletz Tribal Head Start Program provides a developmentally appropriate and Native American culturally relevant preschool experience which promotes school readiness skills for children who are 3 and 4 years of age.
The program provides comprehensive services to children to ensure they are up-to-date on all well child care and to promote their physical, social emotional and cognitive development.
The Head Start Program offers families the support they need to connect with community resources to further their personal growth and to support them in their role as their childs first and most important teacher.
Requirements
- Associates or bachelors degree (any field) OR High School Diploma or GED and six months experience in a structured early childhood education setting (Pre-School, Head Start, Kindergarten, Day-Care Center).
- Must obtain Child Development Associate (CDA) credential within 2 years of hire date.
- Must obtain valid Oregon School Bus Drivers Certificate and Oregon Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with the proper endorsements OR CDL Permit and be able to obtain a valid Oregon Commercial Drivers License (within 90-days of employment) with the proper endorsements and fulfill all of the requirements for the Oregon School Bus Drivers Permit and Certificate under OAR 581-053-0220.

- Meet the physical demands of the classroom environment and to facilitate and support the physical activity of 20 young children inside, outside of the classroom, and as necessary, to intervene physically to protect the health and safety of the children.

- Obtain Food Handlers card within 15-days of hire.
- Obtain First Aid / CPR within first 30-days of hire.
- Screened for tuberculosis.

Duties
Assists with : Planning and execution of all activities necessary to implement a developmentally appropriate and culturally relevant preschool program, and responsible for providing a safe and efficient transportation services to 20 children.
Follow through of the daily educational plan within the classroom and plan activities. Setting up and maintaining a developmentally appropriate classroom environment including organization of space and material storage.
Setting up educational and / or social service related home visits with assigned families. Planning of daily lesson plans.
Delivery of food service and is required to eat with the children. Daily cleaning and classroom preparation duties. Assist Complete required documentation and follow up activities.
Work in a team setting with other staff involved with families in assessing the needs of the family and child. Participate in Child Development Associates (CDA) program and / or other training activities.
Supports the Head Start goals, objectives, and performance standards. Responsible for developing and driving a bus route.
Implement a daily bus route and transport for program related activities. Must ensure that all times the bus is in operation in a safe and efficient manner.
Must ensure that all the necessary upkeep, maintenance, and safety checks for the bus are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
Responsible for behavior of children on the bus with particular attention to safety. Keep assigned vehicle clean. Report any accidents or malfunctions to the Head start Director.
Record gas slips. Responsible for recording and reporting on in-kind services. Other duties as assigned.
All new employees will serve a six-month probationary period to enable the General Manger to determine their suitability as a tribal employee.
After the six-month probation the employee will be evaluated of his / her performance and at that time it will be decided if the employee is entitled to a regular employee status.
