Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in teaching courses in the Dept. of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) including and not limited to advanced clinical practicum.
- Provide clinical education for on-campus practicum through direct services in screening, diagnosing, and treating patients with speech, language, and cognitive-communication disorders in the University Health Partners of Hawai i Speech and Hearing Clinic.
- Participate in developing, implementing, and evaluating CSD’s clinical education curriculum.
- Pursue collaborative and / or independent research in area of interest or subspecialty.
- Other scholarly, clinical, and administrative duties as assigned.
Instructor Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or related field from college or university of recognized standing, with major work in CSD.
- Current Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA CCC-SLP).
- State of Hawaii Speech Pathologist license to practice in the State of Hawai i by date of hire.
- Demonstrated clinical experience and expertise in specialty area.
- Demonstrated ability as a teacher and clinician in speech-language pathology.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Poise and good address for meeting, collaborating, and conferring with others.
Desirable Qualifications
- Clinical experience in evaluating and treating adults with neurogenic communication disorders.
- Experience in working with culturally and linguistically diverse populations.
- Prior experience in supervising student clinicians.
