We are seeking a passionate and experienced bilingual User Researcher to join our organization, dedicated to resolving the homelessness crisis in Southern California.
The ideal candidate will bring expertise in user-centered research, deep knowledge of homelessness issues, and prior experience in the nonprofit sector.
You will lead facilitated sessions, interviews, and workshops, gathering critical insights to support program improvement and develop innovative solutions for the region's homelessness challenges.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead User Research Initiatives : Design and conduct research studies, including facilitated sessions, interviews, and focus groups, to understand the needs of individuals experiencing homelessness.
- Stakeholder Engagement : Collaborate with community partners, nonprofits, government agencies, and affected populations to gather diverse perspectives and ensure holistic solutions.
- Qualitative & Quantitative Research : Utilize both qualitative methods (interviews, ethnographic studies, etc.) and quantitative data (surveys, usability metrics) to inform strategies that address homelessness.
- Develop Insights : Analyze findings and translate user research into actionable insights that will guide program development and service improvements.
- Facilitated Workshops : Plan and lead co-creation and design-thinking workshops with internal and external stakeholders to develop community-driven solutions.
- Continuous Improvement : Recommend changes to existing programs based on research findings, ensuring the organization's initiatives are effective and sustainable.
- Report and Communicate : Develop comprehensive research reports and present findings to leadership and other key stakeholders.
Required Qualifications :
- Nonprofit Experience : Minimum of 3 years of experience working in or alongside nonprofit organizations, particularly those addressing homelessness, housing, or social services.
- Homelessness Expertise : In-depth knowledge of the homelessness crisis in Southern California, including systemic challenges, policy frameworks, and population needs.
- User Research Expertise : Strong background in conducting user research, with a focus on underserved or vulnerable populations.
- Facilitation Skills : Proven experience in conducting facilitated sessions, focus groups, and community workshops, preferably in a nonprofit or public service context.
- Communication & Collaboration : Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present research findings and work with diverse teams.
- Analytical Skills : Ability to synthesize complex information and derive actionable insights to improve service offerings and program design.
- Empathy and Cultural Competence : A deep understanding of the challenges faced by individuals experiencing homelessness and the ability to engage with them compassionately and effectively.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Experience with Public Policy or Social Work : Background in public policy, urban planning, or social work, particularly related to housing and homelessness.
- Familiarity with Government and Community Partnerships : Experience working with local government agencies and community organizations to develop collaborative solutions.
- Design Thinking : Familiarity with design thinking principles and human-centered design methodologies.
