Sylvan Learning Center, the nation's leading provider of educational services, is seeking part-time teachers. At Sylvan Learning Center, we teach students (Pre-K through High School) at various levels to increase confidence and independence, providing them with skills that will last a lifetime.
We are currently looking for experienced tutors to work at our West Covina learning center, experienced in the following :
- MATH (up to Algebra 2 or beyond)
- READING / WRITING (up to 12th grade)
- TEST PREP (with training).
As an Instructor at Sylvan, your primary responsibilities are : Teaching and building rapport with students. NO LESSON PLANS!

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Supervise, interact with, and motivate students
- Reward students for completed assignments
- Evaluate and document student progress
- Communicate student needs to the center director
- Inspire and develop a rapport with students
- Establish a fun learning environment
- Maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching and Sylvan
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
- Four year degree or equivalent preferred but not required
- State or provincial teaching credentials preferred but not required (current or expired)
- Minimum of one or two years of teaching experience preferred
- Knowledge of phonics and reading comprehension preferred for reading teachers
