The OPPORTUNITY
This Tech Lead Cloud and DevOps Engineering position works onsite at our Alameda, CA location in the LINGO Division.
Tech Lead Cloud & DevOps Engineering leads the cloud operations, developer experience and data infrastructure practice at Lingo.
Accountable for delivering a comprehensive set of operational services including : monitoring systems, application health and availability, level 1 and 2 incident resolution, backups and disaster recovery.
Participates in product releases providing support to the development teams as releases progress through environments. Partners with the engineering team on operational improvements to the underlying cloud infrastructure.
Develops best practices for using data services in the cloud including SQL, NoSQL, Data Lakes, and Blob Storage.
What you’ll do
Work with R&D Software Engineering to implement observability, end-to-end monitoring, alerting and troubleshooting capabilities for the web and mobile applications.
Work with cyber security in ensuring continuous hardening of the cloud infrastructure and services
Lead cloud operations organization in cloud service disciplines and maintains up-to-date technical skills in anticipation of future Abbott technical opportunities, demand and requirements.
Define best practices and guardrail for deploying data infrastructure in Azure Cloud.
Responsible for compliance to applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.
Nurture relationships with key suppliers of cloud technologies to keep abreast of emerging technologies, ensure solution stability, optimal pricing, and influences their product direction to align with Abbott.
Keep appraised of service levels, customer satisfaction and project results; serves as point of escalation and takes prompt corrective action to address issues and problems.
Proactively asses the effectiveness of standards, methodologies and processes; driving change as appropriate for continuous improvement.
Create and manage a 24x7 monitoring and support strategy for cloud and DevOps infrastructure
Implement and oversee all aspects of the cloud environment, including provisioning, scale, monitoring, and security
Develop and document technical designs for integration and implementation of new cloud applications and systems including infrastructure qualification plans and reports.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Science discipline
10+ years of relevant experience in cloud operations and DevOps
Experience setting up robust observability and monitoring infrastructure
Experience setting up teams for 24x7 coverage
Experience setting up infrastructure compliant with PCI, PHI and other related privacy and governance standards
Experience managing strict SLAs, operational KPIs and cost optimization of cloud and PaaS infrastructure
Seasoned technologist and cloud expert with deep insights into the newest cloud technologies and trends
Ability to make architectural decisions at a team and production level
Experience working on projects that span multiple organizations and business units
Extensive knowledge on app development, cybersecurity, cloud development, and deployment
Preferred
Familiarity with cloud security and identity management services
University degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or similar technical disciplines
Experience with New Relic, Sentry and Pager Duty for end-to-end monitoring tools

The base pay for this position is $125,700.00 $251,500.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
