Job Summary of the CT Technologist
Responsible for performing all diagnostic radiological procedures in a timely manner. Performs procedures according to physician’s orders.
As a member of the care team, the C.T. Technologist is responsible for working collaboratively with other members to assure the safe and accurate delivery of patient care.
In addition, the C.T. Technologist must be able and willing to cross-train into other appropriate modalities. Under the direction of the Laboratory department, all modalities will be responsible in assisting with the collection of patient specimen(s), the proper labeling of that specimen(s) and the safe delivery to the lab department.
Their other duties will include quality control, quality improvement, and equipment maintenance.
Responsibilities of the CT Technologist
- Perform CT procedures in a timely manner; documents required information and communicates to primary physician and direct care staff pertinent information.
- Coordinate and assist in the care of patients assigned in collaboration with other CT technologists, physicians, nurses, and allied health staff.
- Evaluate patient condition in order to adequately perform CT exams.
- Inform and explain procedure to be performed to patients and what is expected in terms of his / her cooperation.
- Provide comprehensive direct patient care and assures a safe and comforting environment.
- Consult with other staff as necessary to meet the needs of the patient and family.
- Assure that the necessary clinical equipment and supplies are available and are safely utilized.
- Possess the knowledge of growth and development of patients across the life span (neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric).
- Perform Point of Care procedures in a timely manner according to established policy and procedure. Document required information and complies with all Point of Care quality control standards.
Qualifications of the CT Technologist
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
- Associate Degree and graduate from an accredited radiologic technology program
- Preferred : At minimum 1 year experience as a CT Technologist
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES :
- Current Medical Radiologic Technologist certification with Texas Medical Board (TMB)
- Current American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) Registered Radiologic Technologist RT (R) license
- Current American Registry of Radiological Technologist (ARRT) / Registered C T Technologist, CT(R) license
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
