Position Overview :

An Echo Software Engineering Manager will manage between one and two scrum teams, totaling 6-8 software engineers. The position will need to be both technical and high-level, speaking in architectural, code-level, and business-level terminology.

The EM will interact and partner with Architecture, Product, QA / SET, and Service teams. The EM will act as a mentor and coach to direct reports, with the ability to code review, manage releases, plan / estimate feature-level work, and oversee multiple work streams.

Job Duties & Responsibilities :

• Manage performance, recruiting / hiring, and own outcomes of 1-2 scrum teams, totaling 6-8 software engineer direct reports.
• Help to plan, estimate, and architect feature-level work.
• Mentor, coach, and perform code reviews for direct reports.
• Partner with Product, QA, Architecture, and Shared Service teams to both overcome obstacles and achieve product / team improvements.
• Lead Echo Tech remote / in-person culture initiatives for engineering teams.
• Ability to translate and articulate an engineering strategy / approach to senior executives and other non-technical business leaders.
• Ability to learn new technologies; is motivated to learn the latest technologies, drive own professional development, and share this knowledge with others.
• Establish and maintain a career growth program to ensure employee retention and development.
• Establish and validate that proper software development patterns and toolsets are documented and implemented throughout the engineering organization.
• Establish proper technical design frameworks and approaches for new product development.
• Lead scrum teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across full-stack development tools and technologies.
• Work with other leaders in Product, Infrastructure, Security, Data, Architecture to ensure alignment on strategy.

Required Skills :

• Tech Lead or Manager of multiple successful, large enterprise projects.
• Experience interacting with business / product leaders.
• Demonstrable architect-level coding knowledge.
• Solid full-stack technical foundation - C#, Java, Python, and / or Other and Javascript / React / Angular.
• Experience in time-sensitive integrations or marketplace technology like finance, shipping, healthcare, or other.
• Experience leading others including performance management, recruiting / hiring, and mentorship / coaching.
• Solid understanding of Agile / Scrum methodology and CI / CD / DevOps Processes.
• Extensive experience working directly with Product Management leadership in understanding the product roadmap and establishing a technical strategy to facilitate the implementation of key capabilities.
• Proficient in data access techniques for both relational and NoSQL databases.
• Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
• Application lifecycle management (ALM).
• Bachelor's Level Degree with at least 5-10 years of relevant working experience.

Preferred Skills :

• Previous managerial experience.
• Containerization (Docker) and Kubernetes experience / understanding.
• AWS / Azure / Google Cloud solution development experience.
• Enterprise data architecture experience (Kafka, RabbitMQ, ElasticSearch, others).
• Previous shipping technology / 3PL experience.
• Experience in Enterprise Re-Platforming and Technology Transformation Initiatives.
• Digital Transformation Strategies & Approaches.
