A Brief Overview

Responsible for program management and planning services for all projects within the assigned area in support of Stanford Health Care (SHC) and Stanford Children's Health (SCH).

Expected to exercise significant expertise, coordination and procurement strategies for relevant programs, projects, and policies.

Assures compliance with applicable laws and standards governing practices in the assigned area. Develops and reviews policies and procedures that directly relate to the assigned function, while utilizing the best strategic and planning practices in coordination with overall projects within the capital plan.

Develops and oversees the standard processes related to developing, coordinating, procuring, archiving equipment for all project information including drawings and databases.

What you will do

  • Program Leadership
  • Lead large strategic and cross-functional programs by defining strategic intent of program and overseeing deliverable development to ensure project goals are met.
  • Manage objectives and deliverables that support strategic business goals in collaboration with the Administrative Director and other key stakeholders.
  • Execute the projects within the program in support of the policies and procedures that directly relate to Planning, Design, Construction services, while utilizing the best strategic and facilities planning practices in coordination with overall projects within the program and capital plan.
  • Manage project budgets within the guidelines and parameters established by the budget office and mutually agreed upon by the Directors of Capital Improvement Projects and the Vice President.
  • Analyze proposed capital improvement and asset management plans to provide recommendations regarding project feasibility, design and timeline for day-to-day project management and completion.
  • Provide expertise and oversight of project impacts, schedules, budgets, and provide progress status reports to key stakeholders, physician leaders and executive leadership.
  • Identify ways to improve system-wide processes and procedures that incorporate current technology, continuous improvement methods, and principles of accountability and transparency
  • Collaboration
  • Work closely with the Directors and Sr Program Managers within Planning, Design and Construction to determine, coordinate and support the requirements for the program that involve and impact Land Use & Licensing, Medical Equipment, Radiology and Interventional Services, Finance and Operational policies and procedures
  • Partner with other departments, like the Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S), Sustainability Program Office (SPO), Technology & Digital Solutions (TDS) departments, to ensure the program and designs support and reflect the ongoing operational standards for engineering and reflect the latest in sustainability standards at Stanford Medicine
  • Work closely with internal departments and key stakeholders, like the Engineering, Hospital & Clinic Activations (HCA), Facility Management, Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S), and Site Support Services (SSS) to coordinate impacts on the operational environment and interactions with the client to adjust, as necessary, to maintain operations and ensure safety.
  • Coordinate building / project commissioning and activation activities with key stakeholders, like the Engineering, Hospital & Clinic Activations (HCA), Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S), Site Support Services (SSS), Technology & Digital Solutions (TDS) departments, into full operations to ensure transfer of knowledge of all systems and ensue readiness of the operations environment to shift to full operations.
  • Quality and risk management
  • Manage quality control measures to mitigate risk, ensure safety and compliance with department, hospital and University policies, government codes and regulations;

also ensure conformance to the requirements of all project participants.

  • Prepare and maintain accurate, consistent, timely and auditable project records and cost estimates, as applicable, within department guidelines.
  • Team Leadership
  • Support project teams and define roles and responsibilities as it pertains to project scope, planning requirements, budget, and schedule requirements.
  • Lead and manage on-going daily activities of staff including evaluating their work, influencing, coaching and supporting their professional development.
  • Effective communication
  • Exercise effective communication, both written and verbal, at all organizational levels and in situations requiring instructing, persuading, negotiating, conflict resolution, consulting and advising
  • Maintain communications on a regular and timely basis, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed of relevant issues, status and required actions

  • Demonstrate a strategic and analytical mindset with proactive critical thinking to make informed judgements and develop solutions for complex problems.

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Land Use & Licensing : Bachelor’s degree in architecture, project management, construction, engineering, land use or urban planning or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Bachelor's Degree Bachelor’s degree in a work-related / field from an accredited college or university.
  • Bachelor's Degree Operations : Graduate from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in architecture, engineering, construction-management, urban planning, public or business administration, accounting or another related field.

Experience Qualifications

Ten (10) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience relevant to the assigned function.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to provide leadership and influence others.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts and / or negotiate with others to achieve positive results; establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory requirements related to areas of functional responsibility.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of organization, administration, fiscal and personnel management.

Base Pay Scale : Generally starting at $79.15 - $104.87 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
