Job Summary
Is responsible for diagnosing responses to actual or potential health problems and for providing basic emergent, supportive, and restorative care through use of the nursing process.
Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in assigned responsibility.
Operating Room RN Skills and Abilities :
- Clinically competent RN who demonstrates expertise in one or more of the following areas : (SDA, ODS, IV Therapy or Endoscopy).
- Clinically competent RN who demonstrates expertise in the perioperative field.
- Performs circulating and / or scrub duties.
- Demonstrates understanding and practice of aseptic technique.
- Must have a mechanical ability to deal with a large number of machines and special equipment in the department, such as : Electrocautery units, autoclaves, tourniquets, positioning equipment, instrumentation of each service, video equipment, perioperative suite in total, ligasure.
- Meets the physical demands of the position.
Demonstrates ability to cope with and function under stress.
Meets skill certification requirements for designated units.
Operating Room RN Qualifications :
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
- Licensed and currently registered as a Professional Nurse in the state of CT.
- BSN preferred.
- Current AHA Healthcare Provider CPR certification or equivalent within 3 months of hire required.
