Description
The Fleet Generator and Fuel Tank Compliance Technician is a highly skilled technical position. Primary functions include the repair and maintenance of power generator systems.
Responsibilities also include compliance inspections of aboveground and underground fuel tank systems.
Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
1.Perform detailed repair mechanical evaluations on all brands of generators and fuel tanks relating to failures, damage, defects, and maintenance issues and resolving them.
2.Responsible for Florida Department of Environment Protection (FDEP) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) compliance readiness.
Ensures that all storage tanks are in compliance with annual inspection. Ensures that documents are maintained relating to AST and UST system regulations.
Properly respond to emergencies such as spills or releases.
3.Required to be onsite to verify that all appropriate operational and maintenance tasks are completed.
4.Operates mobile refueling vehicle to issue petroleum products to generators and storage fuel tanks.
5.Performs minor and major repairs by replacing components such as fuel hoses, fuel pumps, fuel pedestals, cylinder heads, generator assembly, exhaust systems, engine assembly, wiring harnesses, starters, alternators, battery chargers and block heaters.
6.Performs annual operability checks for all fuel tanks, and annual load banking on generators.
7.Position responsible for hurricane season readiness. Assuring all generators are properly functioning for unplanned outages and fuel tanks are adequately filled for a state of emergency.
8.Strictly adheres to all safety and environmental rules and regulations.
9.Operates computer to retrieve work information on the generator or fuel tank that is assigned for repairs. Documents description of all work completed.
10.Availability to respond to emergency and after hour calls including nights, weekends, and holidays, and availability as an on-call mechanic on a regular rotation.
Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school, plus specialized schooling and / or on the job education in a specific skill area, for example : data processing, clerical / administrative, equipment operation, etc,
- 7 years related experience and / or training.
Or equivalent combination of education and experience
SOFTWARE SKILLS REQUIRED
Basic : 10-Key
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS :
- Florida Class B Commercial Driver's License within six months of employment.
- Certification in Fuel Storage Tank maintenance within one year of employment.
MUST acquire the following Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certificates within FIRST year of employment :
T2 - Diesel Engines
T6 - Electrical / Electronic Systems
F1 - Alternative Fuels
