Die Repair Technician

Job Summary :

We are seeking a skilled Die Repair Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for repairing, rebuilding, and maintaining casting and trim dies to meet original specifications.

You will operate various machines and equipment, troubleshoot tooling problems, and ensure all repairs and maintenance tasks are performed efficiently and safely.

This position requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work with precision.

Key Responsibilities :

• Repair, rebuild, and maintain casting and trim dies according to original specifications, utilizing appropriate machines and equipment.
• Follow instructions and guidance provided by the Team Leader and / or Supervisor.
• Transport, clean, disassemble, repair, and reassemble casting and trim dies using lift trucks, die cleaning equipment, and cranes as needed.
• Build and replace segments, cores, details, and parts from blueprints using necessary tools and equipment.
• Polish, grind, and draw die cavity surfaces as required.
• Conduct on-machine repairs, including removing stuck castings, correcting dimensional issues, and changing cores and trim punches.
• Perform welding duties both in the foundry and the Die Repair Department.
• Troubleshoot production tooling issues and carry out necessary repairs and maintenance.
• Complete all necessary documentation, including die work orders, pictorials, sign-offs, and records, as directed.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure equipment is in proper working condition.
• Train new employees in the die repair process and proper safety protocols.
• Perform any other duties as required to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the tool and die repair department.

Skills Required :

• Proficiency in polishing, grinding, and drawing die cavity surfaces using appropriate tools and equipment.
• Ability to build and replace segments, cores, details, and parts from blueprints.
• Competence in performing welding duties in both the foundry and the Die Repair Department.
• Experience in training new employees and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.

Experience Required :

• Up to 2 years of relevant training or experience in die repair. If the minimum experience requirement is not met, 2 years of on-the-job training will be provided to meet this standard.
• Must possess Tool & Die Repair Journeyman Papers.

Education Required :

Must have the ability to perform highly skilled tasks and solve complex problems. An Associates Degree, trade or technical school certification, or journeyperson certificate is required.

Must-Have Qualifications :

• Ability to perform highly skilled tasks and solve complex problems (Associates Degree, trade or technical school, or journeyperson certificate).
• A minimum of 2 years of training in die repair. If this requirement is not met, the candidate must complete 2 years of on-the-job training.
• Must provide the last four digits of the candidate's Social Security Number.
