Position Overview :
The billing specialist is responsible for the reviewing, submitting, reconciling and resubmission of the organizations Managed Care Organization billing.
Under the direction of the CFO the billing specialist will be the lead person in resolving any coding, rejections, or administrative errors alongside other team members.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following :
1. Billing & Processing : Responsible for Processing claims and payments from insurance companies and enter them into EHR system.
2. Perform posting charges and completion of claims to payers on time.
3. Obtain referrals and pre-authorizations as required for procedures.
4. Review patient bills for accuracy and completeness and obtain any missing information.
5. Prepare, review, and transmit claims using billing software, including electronic and paper claim processing.
6. Follow up on unpaid claims within a standard billing cycle timeframe.
7. Check each insurance payment for accuracy and compliance with the contract.
8. Call insurance companies regarding any discrepancy in payments, if necessary
9. Review accounts for insurance or patient follow-up
10. Research and appeal denied claims.
11. Update billing software with rate changes
12. Update cash spreadsheets and run collection reports.
13. Verifies over-payments and adjusts reports.
14. Works alongside the program staff to review billing rejections and develop corrective practices.

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE :
2-3 Years of experience with full cycle billing and supportive activities, High School Diploma or equivalent, AA degree preferred.
Good management skills, market researching tactics, negotiation skills, communication skills, problem-solving, multitasking skills, interpersonal skills, and marketing capabilities.
