Summary
The Coastal Hydrogeology laboratory at Old Dominion University is searching for a laboratory technician to manage and maintain the laboratory.
The technician will be responsible for radiochemical and geochemical analyses of water and soil samples, and for maintaining instrumentation.
Additional responsibilities include environmental field sampling, map production in GIS, and data reduction in MS Office and Matlab.
Occasional overnight travel to field sites is required.

Education and / or training :
Knowledge is normally acquired through 4 years of college, vocational or technical training resulting in a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience work experience in geology, environmental science, chemistry, or related field
Level and type ofexperience : This is an entry level position that requires knowledge of lab procedures. Prefer 1 3 years, as a laboratory technician, environmental consultant, or related field
Specific knowledge, skills, and abilities : Effective communication. Proficient in MS Office products. Experience with GIS software.
Familiarity and experience with environmental sampling and laboratory work. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Prefer experience with radiochemical and geochemical laboratory analyses, hydrogeologic field sampling
