The Role
The Senior Tax Manager is primarily responsible for performing detailed reviews of the workpapers for Regulated Investment Companies, including fiscal and excise tax provisions, annual financial statement disclosures, quarterly compliance tests, fund distribution calculations, 1120-RIC and Form 8613 tax returns, and shareholder year-end tax deliverables.
In addition, as a Senior Tax Manager, you will share your knowledge with staff-level associates on securities taxation and complex derivatives including futures, swaps, and options.
Additional responsibilities include working with our IT Development Squads to solution system enhancements and create operational efficiencies.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or another business-related field
- CPA or MST desired
- 7+ years of experience in mutual fund tax operations, or related tax-specialty
- Strong knowledge of Subchapter M, and common RIC book-tax differences
- Broad knowledge of accounting and tax principles
- Familiarity with tax research techniques
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented, team environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to embrace and adapt to an ever-changing regulatory and technological environment
The Team
The Tax Team is part of the Fidelity Fund and Investment Operations (FFIO) business unit, which provides accounting and investment management support services to Fidelity businesses and mutual fund shareholders.
The Tax team, along with the Shareholder Reporting Team, makes up the Fund Administration Group within FFIO. The primary responsibilities of the team include providing tax compliance services for US 40-Act mutual funds, Canadian mutual fund trusts, and alternative investment products.
The Tax Team works closely with several different operations teams and internal business partners including Shareholder Reporting, Compliance, Legal, and Fund Treasury
