Job Summary :
The company, a leading aerospace manufacturing company, is seeking a skilled and experienced Forge Operator Level 2 to join our team in Gardena, CA.
As a Forge Operator Level 2, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining forge equipment to produce high-quality aerospace components.
This position requires a strong understanding of forging techniques, experience with various metals, and a commitment to safety and precision.
Key Responsibilities :
- Set up, operate, and monitor forge presses and other forging equipment to form metal components according to detailed specifications and work orders.
- Adjust machine settings to ensure that forging parameters (such as temperature, force, and timing) are correctly set for each job.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and production orders to determine the required forge setup and operation.
- Inspect raw materials and finished parts for quality, using precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to ensure they meet specified tolerances.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of forging equipment to ensure optimal performance and reduce downtime.
- Assist in tooling changes and machine setup for different jobs as required.
- Collaborate with quality control and engineering teams to address any product quality issues or operational improvements.
- Follow all safety procedures, ensuring proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintaining a safe work environment.
- Document production activities and results, including machine settings, production output, and any issues encountered.
- Train and assist lower-level forge operators as needed.
Qualifications :
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a forge operator or in a similar manufacturing role, with proficiency in operating forge presses and related equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical specifications, and work orders.
- Familiarity with different metals and alloys used in aerospace manufacturing, such as aluminum, steel, and titanium.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency in using precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to ensure product quality.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting heavy materials and working with hot metal parts.
- Commitment to following safety procedures and maintaining a safe working environment.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Experience working in the aerospace industry or in precision forging.
- Knowledge of heat treatment processes and their effect on metals.
- Forklift certification or experience operating material handling equipment.
Work Environment :
- Full-time position in a manufacturing setting.
- Exposure to high temperatures, noise, and heavy machinery.
