The VF Ethics & Compliance team has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Ethics & Compliance attorney to work with some of the most recognizable brands in North America.

The Ethics & Compliance Counsel will play a vital role in the accomplishment of VF’s Ethics and Compliance Program goals by leading the development of VF’s global anti-corruption, third-party risk management and sanctions compliance programs and playing a key role in development and implementation of the broader Ethics & Compliance program framework.

The person in this role will act with the highest level of integrity and ethics in all aspects of their work.

The Ethics & Compliance Counsel works at the exciting intersection of business ethics, workplace culture and the law, providing expertise and hands-on legal support for the development of a robust global Ethics & Compliance program centered on VF’s Purpose and Guiding Principles, and ultimately on a strong culture of integrity.

How You Will Make a Difference :

  • Day to day contact for due diligence requests for the global organization.
  • Influence and collaborate with business leaders, the Legal Department, Global Assurance, Human Resources, Supply Chain, and others to define and implement ethics and compliance strategy while monitoring risk, industry trends and new regulations.
  • Demonstrate broad and extensive expert knowledge in risk and compliance law by staying current on applicable regulatory requirements and monitoring advancements in best practices.
  • Translate such expert knowledge into clear, concise, practical, pragmatic and risk-based policies and processes to mitigate risk and support a culture of integrity.
  • Lead VF’s anti-corruption, sanctions and third-party risk management programs based on a thorough understanding of global anti-corruption and sanctions laws and enforcement actions and translating that understanding to a risk-based program strategy and framework.
  • Develop strategies in support of the creation, enhancement and implementation of robust and globally consistent policies, procedures, controls, and systems for the global program;

work with regional colleagues to drive the progress and enhancement of the program.

Lead and direct the strategies that support the implementation of third-party due diligence and sanctions screening, including collaboration with external vendors;

ensure that such screening is consistent with global policies and procedures.

  • Implement training and awareness initiatives, including creating and delivering training and communications content.
  • Collaborate with VF Internal Audit to develop auditing, monitoring and root cause analysis activities using data analytics and related tools.
  • Oversee and in some cases lead various business integrity internal investigations to ensure consistency with the company’s internal investigations protocol and related laws and regulations.
  • Lead the development of strategies in support of the implementation and execution of periodic ethics & compliance risk assessments in coordination with regional and local colleagues;

develop and communicate recommendations for risk mitigation.

  • Provide regular updates to senior management as necessary.
  • Provide general advice on latest regulatory and compliance developments.
  • Manage external legal advisors and counsel.
  • Lead or support other Ethics and Compliance initiatives, as needed.

Skills For Success

  • A passion for continuous growth at work and in life and a desire to have fun at work!
  • Must have a JD degree from an accredited law school, and active Bar membership in at least one state jurisdiction.
  • BA / BS undergraduate degree with excellent academic accomplishment.
  • 6+ years of previous successful business or legal experience in a relevant field that demonstrates a track record of success and an ability to develop efficient and effective policies, systems and processes;

substantive ethics & compliance experience with a corporate legal department is a plus.

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational, execution and project management skills and the ability to lead and implement programmatic projects from strategy, thorough planning and implementation.
  • Practical and creative problem analysis and resolution skills.
  • Understanding of the need to maintain confidentiality and discretion in sensitive issues.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with an ability to communicate and influence effectively at the management level.
  • Proficiency in simultaneously handling multiple assignments and prioritize work assignments as needed to meet the demands of VF’s high-energy environment.
  • Ability to relate well across cultures with a wide variety of people in a professional and diplomatic manner.
  • Strong judgment and decision-making capabilities and ability to identify problems and propose creative, effective, and practical solutions in support of the Company’s Purpose and Guiding Principles.
  • Ability to self-start and work independently.
  • Comfortable engaging in all levels of work from the exciting to the mundane.
  • Team player who demonstrates a positive, can-do attitude, support of the client’s goals, and enthusiasm for the success of VF at all times.

Special Physical and / or Mental Requirements

  • Travel by air and overnight, as required up to 10% amount of time.
  • Ability to take calls in off hours as needed to operate effectively in a global business environment.

Ability to work in an open office environment.

Pay Range : $117,504.00 USD - $176,256.00 USD annually

Incentive Potential : This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential.

Specific details of the additional compensation eligibility for this position will be provided during the recruiting and interview process.
