Description
SUMMARY
Responsible for depot-level modification, upgrade, & test of aircraft sub-systems, ensuring airworthiness. Duties include, but are not limited to, inspecting, testing, modifying, and repairing avionic as well as other electrical systems / sub-systems.
Examples include radar, radio, navigation, and aircraft power systems / sub-systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Modifies, upgrades, inspects, tests, adjusts, and repairs aircraft avionic and electrical systems, such as aircraft installed radar, radio, navigation, and power systems using hand tools and test equipment
- Inspects components of avionic and electrical systems and equipment for defects, such as loose connections and frayed wire, and for accuracy of assembly and installation
- Tests avionic and electrical systems under simulated or actual operating conditions to determine performance and airworthiness, using test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, digital meters and counters, and circuit analyzers
- Using hand tools, adjusts, repairs, and / or replaces defective components based on analysis of test results, following blueprints, schematics, handbooks, and other technical documents
- When required, calibrates installed, modified, or repaired systems and / or equipment to prescribed specifications
- When required, operates ground servicing equipment to operationally test, inspect, and verify functionality and air worthiness of avionic and other electrical systems
- When required, assist in fabricating wiring harnesses
- Accurately document all required , including electronic records
- Must effectively interact with program and customer representatives as well as on-site business or military representatives

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Must meet one of the following requirements :
A Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of related experience in avionics or electro-environmental maintenance.An Associate's degree plus 4 years of related experience in avionics or electro-environmental maintenance.
High School Diploma plus 8 years of related experience in avionics or electro-environmental maintenance.
- F-16 experience is strongly preferred, but other fighter jet experience may be considered.
- 5th generation aircraft experience is a plus.
- Microsoft Office Suite skills are preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to lift and carry parts, tooling, and other awkward items sometimes weighing greater than 50 lbs, including walking up and down stairs, aircraft maintenance stands, and platforms
- Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching, and bending throughout the workday
- Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
