As the Product Line Director for the Electric Grid Product Line, you will sit at the intersection of product, strategy and business goals while leading a team of high-performing individuals.
You will oversee both mature products that provide reliability and value, as well as champion new products designed to support future market and customer needs.
This role reports to the CEO of DNV’s Digital Solutions and is a member of the Executive Leadership Team.
The Product Line Director is the primary driver of the overall vision, strategy, product innovation, product management, business development, sales, customer success and results for the Product Line.
What You’ll Do
- Define the Product Line vision, strategy and product plans through the use of Playbooks. Execute the product strategies accordingly.
- Lead and develop a high-performing Product Management team with the right mix of customer centricity, market focus, technical understanding, utility domain expertise, strategic thinking, and communication skills.
- Serve as a member of the DNV Digital Solutions Executive Leadership Team for the business, building strong peer relationships and contributing to cross-functional problem solving, to drive continuous improvement and profitable growth.
- Grow the current product portfolio in use by over 100 utility companies in North America.
- Oversee the development and delivery of a comprehensive product investment strategy and roadmap, including the management of the full product lifecycle across incubation, transformation, performance, and productivity phases while driving rule of 40’ growth objectives.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Software Engineering, and the CEO office (staff functions), as well as other Business Units in a matrixed organization to ensure a portfolio mix based on customer needs, market trends and profitability.
- Enable and empower the critical interfaces between product management, software engineering, sales, delivery, training and support to ensure customer success.
- Establish strong relationships with partners to help drive revenue growth and strengthen customer value.
- Champion for customer centricity. Establish lines of communication with customers, peer groups, partners, and stakeholders to ensure customer needs are met.
What is Required
- At least 10+ years of experience in a Product Management role serving the utility industry, including several years of leading a product management team.
- Deep knowledge of the electric utility industry, utility operations, and its software needs. Time served as an Electric Utility employee is a bonus.
- Proven track record of delivering targeted results and driving profitable growth.
- Deep understanding of Asset Performance Management software, Regulatory Compliance, Mobile computing, SaaS, On-Premises and Hybrid Cloud operations.
- Strong project management skillset with ability to deliver and meet targeted project deadlines.
- Solid understanding of Agile and / or lean development principles.
- Ability to drive and lead change, interact and influence global stakeholders.
- Comfortable with public speaking to large audiences.
- Experience managing a P&L with a long-term forecast that understands the market, customer segment, and how to define business strategy.
- Business case development and follow-through will be an important part of this role.
- Experienced in conducting market research with independent convictions about future product directions.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field MS and / or MBA highly preferred.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
