Performs tests on neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease, and other related duties, following established standards and practices, per divisions of the lab and per shift assigned.
Must be able to perform duties in two or more technical areas, such as Microbiology, Chemistry, Hematology, and Blood Bank.
If working on PM and Night shift regularly, must be able to perform specific duties in all technical areas as well as performing phlebotomy.
Job Description : JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
Receives orders / specimens, processes specimens, and reviews pending orders in the Laboratory Information System (LIS) at least twice per shift in the assigned department.
Reviews QA report in LIS at least once per shift.
Performs daily QC as required. Evaluates and accepts QC results; and documents any QC problems in LIS.
Performs analyzer maintenance as required and document properly. Performs troubleshooting and / or minor repair as needed.
Performs tests on automated analyzers or by manual procedures according to the SOP’s and departmental policies, reviews and verifies test results in LIS either online or in manual mode.
Responds to physician or other lab client’s inquiries. Communicates in a professional manner at all times.
Participates in proficiency testing, such as CAP surveys, and other competency validation activities.
Corrects errors in timely and notify the affected parties without delay, such as physicians or nursing staff. Documents the corrective action thoroughly.
Maintains good working relationship with other staff members, physicians, and the members of other departments. Treats everybody with respect.
Maintains composure in stressful situations or under pressure.
Responds to changes in the work schedules as necessary; consistently completes work left from previous shift and helps others when necessary.
Participates in the organization’s effort to improve patient safety and satisfaction.
Respects and protects the confidentiality of all patient records and the lab personnel issues.
Enhances professional growth and development through participation of educational programs, literature review, inservices, and workshops.
Meets the minimum CE requirement for CLS license renewal. Share knowledge and skills with colleagues and others.
Orients and trains new staff members. Trains and supervises Laboratory Technicians.
Organizes work and completes assignments within required timeframe.
Attends monthly staff meeting or reads meeting minutes.
Understands and follows hospital and department’s policies and procedures.
EDUCATION
Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
Bachelor's : biology, or chemistry or related science field.
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE
CLSL-Licensed Clinical Lab Scientist
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN :
One year of internship in clinical laboratory
1 year as a generalist preferred
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge of the current Laboratory information system

Pay Range is $59.79 to $74.96 / hour
The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled.
