Job Overview :

Planning, organizing, and overseeing catering operations, including menu planning, food preparation, delivery, and presentation for events and special occasions .

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement catering, event and to-go menus, considering current food trends and customer preferences.
  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of all catering events, from intimate gatherings to large-scale corporate events, ensuring a tailored and exceptional experience for each client.
  • Oversee the to-go order catering process, including packaging, accuracy, and timely delivery.
  • Oversee the entire catering event lifecycle, including initial client consultation, menu selection tailored to event needs, staffing requirements, setup, execution, and post-event breakdown.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, understanding their needs and preferences to ensure repeat business.
  • Work closely with the Commissary and Catering Director as well as the service teams to ensure quality control and efficient operation.
  • Conduct in-depth consultations with clients to understand their event vision, preferences, dietary restrictions, and specific requests.

This involves advising on menu selection, service style (buffet, plated, family-style, etc.), and any customization to ensure their needs are fully met.

  • Manage inventory and order supplies as needed, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
  • Train and supervise catering, event and to-go staff, promoting a culture of excellence and teamwork.
  • Implement and monitor procedures for safety and sanitation in catering, event and to-go operations.
  • Identify opportunities to upsell or cross-sell services (e.g., additional catering options, specialty items, or partner services) that enhance the client's event and increase revenue.
  • Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback with professionalism and a focus on resolution and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop marketing and promotional strategies to increase catering, event and to-go sales.
  • Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reports for the catering, event and to-go departments.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for any client issues or complaints, resolving them promptly and professionally. Ensure that all client concerns are addressed in a way that enhances their overall experience and satisfaction.
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors and service providers to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Analyze customer feedback and sales data to make informed decisions about menu adjustments, pricing strategies, and operational improvements.
  • Implement promotional strategies in collaboration with the marketing team to attract new clients and retain existing ones.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in catering, event management, or a related role
  • Strong leadership skills and experience managing a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with clients and staff at all levels.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and standards
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and catering management software
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays

Physical requirements

  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds or more.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy items such as pots, pans, bulk food items.
  • Ability to work in a hot or humid environment at certain times.
  • Ability to frequently move around the kitchen including reaching and bending
