The nurse auditor is responsible for the auditing of charts for gaps in care and nurse documentation deficiencies, monitoring and reporting trends of chart audit findings, and elevating deficiencies to nursing leadership and the CNO.
These individual conducts leadership rounds on patient units to identify areas of opportunity and assess compliance with regulatory requirements, documents findings, and elevates results appropriately.
Responsibilities :
- Ability to retrieve, communicate, or otherwise present information in written, auditory, or visual fashion is essential.
- Ability to review documentation, critically think about information, and conduct gap assessments comparing present performance to regulatory requirements is a critical aspect of this role.
- Staying up to date with all relevant changes, requirements and expectations by regulatory and accrediting agencies.
- Supports performance improvement initiatives related to compliance and safety.
- Conducts performance and compliance audits in a time-sensitive manner with urgency.
- Performs 100% of chart audits assigned within a 24-hour period.
- Assists leadership with audits and adjusts work schedule to meet nursing department needs.
- Maintains patient, medical record, department and employee confidentiality at all time
Requirements :
- Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.
- Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
- 2 years of supervisory experience at the Manager level or above in a leadership capacity with direct reports in the acute-care clinical setting.
- 3-5 years acute care experience as a Registered Nurse. Emergency Department experience preferred.
- 1 year experience conducting regular chart reviews using Cerner.
