Overview
Under general supervision, the purpose of the position is to perform district / school-based duties associated with providing technical assistance in the installation of hardware / software for electronic capture, storage, transmission, and reproduction of digital media.
Employees in this classification function at an operational capacity and perform a variety of duties including troubleshooting, technical support, training functions, as well as system design and maintenance.
This position also serves as a technical resource for all district / school staff and personnel. Performs related work as directed.
Special Note : The incumbent is considered to be essential personnel subject to being held over or called back to a district work location or alternate site at all times.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Respond to internal and external customers in a timely, accurate, courteous and empathetic manner representing OCPS in a positive light.
Designs, installs and maintains district-level audio and video systems including : switchers, routers, distribution systems, duplication systems, standard and robotic camera systems, time-based correctors, waveform and vectorscopes, blackburst generators, genlock systems, video Raids, computerized editing systems and networks including video storage area network.
Evaluates existing video systems; researches, develops and prepares needs analyses; influences and recommends district standards for video systems hardware and software;
researches and evaluates products; keeps up with current technological trends.
Review blueprints, architectural drawings and vendor proposals and offer technical advice and guidance for new FF&E school-based television production studio and facility projects.
Assist with the scheduling of timelines and creation of checklists, punch lists and sign off sheets related to school installations and upgrades of TV studios and video equipment.
Schedules onsite visits to perform maintenance on school-based video production systems; troubleshoots hardware and software problems through diagnostic testing;
initiates problem-solving methods where necessary; installs, upgrades, and configures software for new or existing video systems.
Provides audio / video training to school and district-level personnel; schedules and conducts training in the proper use of audio and video equipment and software.
Operates equipment for studio and location productions including : cameras, microphones and lighting; set up and operation of equipment for live events;
use of robotic cameras to record school board meetings for broadcast.
Obtain video footage through the use of various video / audio equipment, determining proper camera angles, evaluating lighting and audio requirements and setting up microphones, tripods and related equipment.
Maintains departmental databases and departmental server.
Operates a computer to enter, retrieve, review, and / or modify data; uses editing software (video, audio, photo) in addition to database, spreadsheet, word processing, presentation and related software programs.
Uses systems design software to create schematics of television production studios in secondary schools, including electrical, video and audio wiring and cabling.
Perform software imaging of computers used in TV Production at schools to achieve district consistency and performance standards.
Attend project meetings and regular team meetings to gather information required to perform functions.
May need to respond to emergency situations, with prior management approval, to assist with district activities on a rare occasion (i.
e., after hours and / or weekends).
Responsible for keeping up to date on current technology, as job appropriate, being used by OCPS. With the support of the district, attends training to ensure skill level in various technologies is at the level required to perform in current position.
Responsible for timely and accurate information they maintain as part of their job responsibilities.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
While the following tasks are necessary for the work of the unit, they are not an essential part of the purpose of this position and may also be performed by other unit members.
Sets up and operates audio-visual presentation equipment to assist district staff.
Organize contents of and coordinates routine maintenance of production vans.
Perform related duties as directed.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Associate degree or vocational / technical certification in television / video production, audio-video systems engineering or a closely related field and be supplemented by a minimum of five (5) years' previous experience and / or additional training.
The following is preferred experience / training : Apple computers and software, VLC Media Player, Roland production switchers, Ikan teleprompters, Panasonic cameras, videography skills including aerial drone operations, wireless microphone and intercom systems (Clearcomm, Eartec, RTS), FileMaker Pro, OmniGraffle, MS Office, Google Docs and Extron AV signal distribution systems.
Education, experience and / or training must demonstrate the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions.
This position requires operation of District vehicles and / or employee’s personal vehicle in performance of duties. Employees must maintain a valid Florida Driver’s license and meet the requirements of the District’s Safe Driving Plan.

Physical Ability : Some tasks may involve the ability to exert heavy physical effort in heavy work, with greater emphasis on climbing and balancing, but typically also involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and the lifting, carrying, pushing, and / or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds);
may occasionally involve heavier objects and materials (up to 100 pounds).
Sensory Requirements : Most tasks require visual perception and discrimination. Some tasks require oral communications ability.

Environmental Factors : Tasks are regularly performed with some potential for exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as machinery and electrical currents when setting up and operating production and broadcast equipment.
