Engineer I - Transmission/Substation

Specific job duties for this role include the following :

  • Perform transmission planning studies and analysis to ensure a reliable and cost-effective transmission system across FPL.
  • Support continued customer growth, increased demand loads, new solar generation projects and transition to zero-carbon future.
  • Prepare PSSE planning models and cases for analysis to support regional and compliance requirements.
  • Support Generator Interconnection studies
  • Exhibit sound technical, leadership and communication skills as well as excellent understanding of power flows on the transmission system.
  • Collaborate across transmission teams, Grid Transformation, Technical Services, Advance Applications, Project Management and other departments.
  • Participate and support regional FRCC technical committees
  • Attend and support industry conferences
  • Knowledge of PSSE and / or TARA is highly preferred.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides engineering, design and environmental support
  • Tracks and reports on project negotiations and performance
  • Delivers company standards, policies, training, and support of organization
  • Prepares communications, presentations and provides support at meetings
  • Formulates researches, and develops improvement measures
  • Works with other departments within the organization to establish customer requirements and project costs
  • Ability to meet attendance and storm duty requirements
  • Ability to work extended hours
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Driver's License (NON CDL)
  • Bachelor's - Engineering
  • Experience : 3+ years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Six Sigma Black Belt Certified
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certified
  • Master's Degree
  • Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certified
  • Six Sigma Master Black Belt
