As a Design Manager, you will
- Work Stream lead You will be responsible for implementing portfolio strategy and organization of projects (including project intake and pre-schematic design).
- Design lead - You will be responsible for independently creating store designs and managing work from concept to detailed design stages.
You will produce and present high-quality presentations to effectively share design intent to leaders, peers, and stakeholders.
- Manage others You will set goals for the hybrid work team and actively provide external partners with coaching, feedback and development opportunities and modeling leadership behavior for the larger team.
- Inspire and influence other designers You will partner with Design Managers in weekly studio workshops, to provide recommendations and drive designs forward to reach their full potential.
- Enjoy working on an energetic, fun team and have a clear ability to drive the business forward as part of a highly communicative & collaborative team, while acting in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.
We’d love to hear from people with :
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution in Architecture or Interior Design.
- Design experience in retail, hospitality, or restaurant design, working with design agencies, branding and / or development organizations. (8 - 10 years)
- Demonstrated direct experience creating interior and architectural design concepts for a range of project sizes and varying complexity levels.
- Relevant experience leading design teams with decision-making authority and accountability, budgets and coordinating external consultants.
- 8+ years experience managing others.
- Project leadership in a cross-functional environment with Real Estate, Operations, and construction.
- Demonstration of influence beyond a single project amongst your studio, cross-functional team, or external support.

If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above.
For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.
The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge / skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity.
At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
The pay range for this position may be narrower than that displayed, depending on where the work is performed.
