Job purpose
The focus for the Development Associate is to support the Roskamp Institute development team in establishing and growing a philanthropic base and an annual fundraising plan.
Qualifications / Responsibilities
Preparation and Knowledge
Associate or bachelor's degree in a related field. A minimum of two years' experience in fundraising and / or sales including excellent speaking, writing, organization, interpersonal, and overall communication skills.
Must work well with persons of all backgrounds and abilities. Must be able to organize and manage diverse activities, set realistic deadlines, manage a timeline, and set priorities under pressure.
Experience of Adobe Creative Suite would be advantageous. Must have strong communication skills, be attentive to detail, be highly organized, motivated and remain flexible under pressure with the ability to exercise independent judgement.
Primary Job Functions
- Fundraising
- Work with the Communications Director and Institute resources to identify prospective individual, foundation, and corporate, donors.
- Maintain foundation, corporation and individual donor files in Raiser’s Edge
- Process donations and prepare acknowledgement letters and other correspondence.
- Create monthly fundraising reports and other database reports as needed.
- Continually update and correct database records
- Coordinate productions, design, and mailing year-end appeal letters and annual report.
- Send appropriate documentation to process credits to donors.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Canva.
- Grant writing skills a plus.
- Marketing
- Social Media
- Work with Communications to produce marketing materials, press releases, advertising and social media content.
- Work with Roskamp IT department to maintain and manage website and update social media platforms, as warranted by urgency and content, but at least weekly.
- Conduct specific marketing and outreach for Roskamp-related programs.
- Community Involvement
- Attend events for networking and organization representation.
- Attend professional job-related development training.
- Maintain professional community memberships and attend educational and relationship-building events as needed.
