Job Description

Basic Function :

The Executive Director of Mt. St. Francis Center for Spirituality oversees all activities and functions of Mt. St. Francis's spiritual outreach programs.

This includes all retreats produced by or hosted at Mt. St. Francis and supervises personnel therein. The Executive Director provides vision for the programs and the work of the Center.

Guided by the Franciscan Charism, the Executive Director encourages personnel to create and implement innovative initiatives to help Church leaders strengthen their relationships with people of all ages in their faith communities.

The Executive Director sets forth a vision of the evangelization of all people through the Center's programs which will deepen and foster spirituality and concern for the common good.

These programs currently include but are not limited to hosted high school retreats, women's spirituality, homeless retreat, adult programing, etc.

The Executive Director is responsible for hiring / firing all staff of the Center.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities :

• Serves as ex officio member of the Board of Directors
• Serves as primary program liaison with Mt. St. Francis Administration and Friar community.
• Serves as primary liaison and representative of the Center for Spirituality at national initiatives, and the various department offices on the Mount St. Francis campus.
• Oversees preparation of annual program evaluation reports for the Board of Directors.
• Seeks to work in collaboration with program Administrators, Mission Advancement Office, and Marketing and Communications Office.
• Responsible for hiring program Administrators and Program Managers and hiring support staff.
• Supervises and evaluates program Administrators' performance.
• Coordinates preparation and oversight of department budget; collaborates with Administrators for preparation of program budgets.
• Works with the scheduling coordinator to approve events : conferences / retreats / art series that use the Chapel, Hermitage, Conference Rooms, Kitchen, Lake Shelter, Garden Shelter, Ropes Course.
• Oversees website content and social media presence in collaboration with the Program Administrators and Assistant / Communications staff.
• Communicates and collaborates with diocesan ministers at a local, regional, and national level as opportunities arise.
• Collaborates with other programs at the Mount in order to enhance understanding of best practices of ministry offered via the Center for Spirituality.
• Oversees ongoing evaluation of all initiatives using performance indicators in media, research, current practices.
• Collaborates to create a plan of sustainability to be implemented as programs progress.
• Oversees execution of all conferences / retreats.
• Supervises all staff members of the Center for Spirituality.
• Active in the Midwest Retreat Directors' Conference, Retreat Centers of the Conventual Franciscan Federation, and in relationship with other Franciscan Retreat Centers of the Franciscan Federation.
• Responsible for providing ongoing formation opportunities for staff members.
• Ensures the preparation of adequate housing, meals, materials, program supplies, and hospitality needs for all program staff, and participants.
• Oversees production of print / electronic materials.
• Responsible for recruitment of conference / retreat participants
