Orion is NASA's spacecraft that will take humans deep into space. No other spacecraft in development has the technology needed for the extremes of deep space, such as life support, navigation, communications, radiation shielding and the world's largest heat shield that will support astronauts and help return them safely home.
Lockheed Martin is the prime contractor creating Orion. We are in the production phase and have finalized a contract for six Orion spacecraft missions and the ability to order up to 12 in total.
The first spacecraft delivered on this contract, Artemis III, will transport the first woman and the next man to the surface of the Moon.
Orion is a critical part of the agency's Artemis program to deliver a sustainable presence on the lunar surface and to prepare us to move on to Mars.

This Houston Orion Test Labs position is to lead integration and test activities, including :
- Certified Test Conductor (CTC) and Test Engineer
- Artemis III+ hardware / software integration
- Hands-on software loads, hardware reconfiguration, and complex hardware / software troubleshooting activities
- Spacecraft / Lab Subsystem Responsible Engineer
- Full time in-person, with occasional weekend and / or 2nd shifts
Desired skills
- Demonstrated behaviors of a systems problem solver; selects and applies appropriate systems thinking skills to solve very complex problems and implement constructive change
- Leading troubleshooting activities with a sense of urgency
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks and to deliver products on schedule
- Familiarity with spacecraft architecture and avionics and ground subsystems (i.e., spacecraft and ground network, GN&C, telemetry and ground processing, displays and controls)
- Automation Framework experience
- SAP / VECAMS experience
