Overview We are seeking a full-time Lead Product Designer in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for user centered design and the conceptualization and design solutions, using skills and leadership to bring innovation.
Essential Functions Contributes significant leadership to projects / programs which contribute directly to achievement of organizational objectives May lead major research or product and / or application development project consisting of multiple modules or sub-projects Creates research protocols to be carried out by others Provides direction to other designers for defining new product behaviors Reviews and provide feedbacks on all designs for a particular product type Defines general approaches and specific solutions to technical problems considered cutting edge Applies extensive design expertise and analysis to all assigned projects Serves as a mentor to less experienced User Experience Designers (User Experience Designer 1, 2 & 3) Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Interactive Design, Human Factors, Visual Design or a Degree with an equivalent curriculum that teaches user centered design principles AND a minimum of 9 years relevant work experience OR a minimum of 13 years equivalent combination of education and relevant experience performing the essential functions of the Garmin Product Designer role Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.
0 as a general rule) Proven track record with leading design direction for multiple projects, and ensuring effective project planning leads to timely completion of project goals / objectives Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Demonstrated ability to produce exceptional design solutions for very broadly defined complex problems Desired Qualifications Excellent knowledge of and personal passion for Golf Desired software skills : Figma, Unity, and / or other 2D / 3D platforms for interactive design and production Experience designing interactive content and interfaces specifically for sports Experience working closely with Technical Artists and / or Developers Examples of overcoming technical limitations and constraints in novel ways Must have : At least one shipped product in which you were the lead design contributor Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
