Import Coordinator

SUMMARY :

Import Coordinator is responsible for coordinating with GFC Buyers, Taiwan suppliers, and overseas forwarder in arranging / scheduling weekly ocean shipments into US warehouses and GFdM (General Fasteners Mexico) warehouse.

The Import Coordinator position ensures containers are being scheduled in a timely manner. Support and backup logistics functions when needed

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

• Maintain Vessel Log - shared tracking sheet for monitoring orders pending shipment
• Booking container space with Freight Forwarder
• Schedule and cube containers with high percentage of utilization
• Ensure order updates are processed timely and communicated to appropriate personnel
• Coordinate with Buyers / Accounting on any required CIA payments
• Coordinate KPI and department data projects and other tasks as assigned.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES :

• Strong aptitude with Microsoft Office : Outlook, Excel (highly proficient preferred) & Word
• Experience with Epicor
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy while meeting deadlines
• Must be self-directed and possess a high level of personal organization
• Possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Interact well with employees at all levels within the organization and be able to build and maintain positive working relationships
• Willingness and ability to be flexible and adapt to changing job requirements
• Process improvement mindset and change management oriented

JOB QUALIFICATIONS :

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 3+ years International Import logistics experience
• Preferred : Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management or Business; CLTD.

• Livonia, MI as hybrid position.
• Due to international time zone differences, this role may rarely require monitoring of urgent communications after typical business hours (5-11 pm)
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to type, file and / or lift yo to 20 lbs. The employee is frequently required to hear and speak.

The employee is required to sit, stand, move about, and use hands and arms to reach, handle or feel . Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY :

This position has no supervisory responsibility.
