Summary

The Tax Program Manager is responsible for a variety of tasks related to compliance and financial reporting for U.S. Federal, state and local income taxes and indirect taxes.

Primary Duties

  • Preparation of Federal and state annual income tax returns. Calculate and file estimated tax payments. Prepare and maintain related work papers.
  • Prepare and file property, excise, and various other tax returns and reports.
  • Reconcile tax accounts in the general ledger.
  • Support financial accounting and reporting through preparation of income tax provisions.
  • Resolve external and internal sales tax inquiries. Effectively communicate with internal staff and taxing authorities on tax matters.

Support various tax audits.

  • Preform tax research on a broad range of topics and deliver clear communication of findings.
  • Develop and maintain tax procedure documentation. Recommend process improvements to streamline compliance.
  • Work independently or as part of a team on special projects as needed.

Scope of Responsibilities

Responsible for preparation of US Federal and multiple state income tax returns for NAES Corporation and three domestic subsidiary companies.

Prepares both returns that are used in combined filing groups and return filed on a single-company basis. Assists in tax matters related to foreign subsidiary companies.

Assists in preparation of quarterly and annual income tax provisions. Communicates with state tax departments as needed to resolve inquiries and audits.

Working Relationships

Reports to the Tax Director. Works with operational and subsidiary accounting groups to gather information required for tax processes.

Supports parent company tax department on consolidated tax return matters.

Compensation

Initial starting compensation will range from $110,900-$127,600 depending on qualifications and experience.

Education and Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in Federal and multi-state tax compliance at a public accounting firm or large corporate environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field (CPA or advanced degree a plus)
  • Experience preparing Federal and state income tax provisions.
  • US outbound international tax experience a plus

Specific Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong technical knowledge of U.S. Federal and multi-state tax concepts and compliance best practices.
  • Strong technical knowledge of ASC 740, accounting for income taxes.
  • Strong tax research skills and ability to communicate results in both written and verbal forms.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, including the ability to effectively problem solve and make decisions.
  • Knowledge of tax software and accounting systems (OneSource expertise a plus), strong MS Office skills.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Normal working hours are 8 : 00a.m. to 5 : 00p.m. Monday though Friday. Extended working hours may be required during periods of high workload or major projects.

Occasional travel may be required.
