SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking two highly experienced, dynamic, self-motivated Project Environmental Scientists (Assistant / Associate level) with strong interpersonal skills and experience in natural resources management and biological studies.

This individual will successfully drive our projects throughout all phases from early planning and permitting through construction.

This Project Environmental Scientist (Assistant / Associate level) should have technical expertise in a range of activities such as biological and wetland surveys, Endangered Species Act compliance, Natural Resource (Clean Water Act) permitting, NEPA, facility siting and constraints studies, and agency interactions at all levels.

Skills include the ability to manage small to medium-sized projects, and track milestones within schedule and budget expectations.

You will also support or be responsible for QA / QC oversight of field data for report-writing and permitting. Our Natural Resources program works on diverse natural resources-related projects across many business lines, including oil and gas, renewable energy, utilities, infrastructure, transportation, and mining projects.

Individuals are also encouraged to apply who have additional project management experience acting as natural resources consultants.

This position is a full- or part-time (with benefits), salaried Central Florida-based position for candidates located in Gainesville or the surrounding area.

What you will accomplish Biological technical desktop and field assessments and survey efforts including fieldwork, preparing and providing peer review for technical reports and environmental permits such as biological resource assessments and constraints analyses, state and federal endangered species act consultations, wetland delineation, and Clean Water Act (CWA) Section 404 / 401 permitting Assist or serve as project task lead on a variety of resource management planning projects Field work and office analysis on small and medium-sized natural resources tasks and projects Supervise, mentor, and provide project technical support to staff-level biologists and field staff Work closely with a project team to develop innovative approaches to resource assessment, and write proposals that meet client needs and can withstand agency and public scrutiny.

Take initiative and resolve issues to assure client needs are met effectively Work closely with SWCA’s resource scientists and environmental planners, managers and natural and cultural resource directors throughout the company to promote SWCA’s business interests in adherence to its mission, vision, and values.

Implement and administer SWCA’s safety procedures and standards of scientific and professional ethics Conduct scientific assessment and statistical analyses.

Experience and qualifications for success Minimum Requirements Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in biology, environmental science, natural resource management, geology, or other related field A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience performing permitting, environmental, ecological, or natural resources studies, surveys, or projects in the private or public sector At least two (2) years working as an environmental consultant Extensive working knowledge of federal and state laws (e.

g., NEPA, CWA, and ESA) governing natural resource management Demonstrated experience with federal agencies such as the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), Bureau of Land Management (BLM), US Forest Service (USFS), and / or US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), and other state / local agencies Preferred Qualifications A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience performing permitting, environmental, ecological, or natural resources studies, surveys, or projects in the private or public sector;

with at least two (2) years as a natural resources project manager; including staff and project team supervision. Experience working with renewable energy, oil & gas, transportation, public utilities, and / or mining clients Experience and ability to manage multiple complex projects and programs, in diverse settings and with changing requirements Demonstrated experience working in a face paced work environment, and a desire to work in a highly collaborative team atmosphere Experience and / or a strong interest supporting business development efforts SWCA Environmental Consultants is a growing employee-owned firm, providing a full-spectrum of environmental services.

An employee in this Florida - based position can expect a salary of : Assistant Project Environmental Scientist between $26.

25 / hour and $34.25 / hour; or Associate Project Environmental Scientist - between $62,400.00 / year to $80,080.00 / year.

Actual pay within this range may depend on experience, qualifications, geographic location, client requirements where applicable, and other factors permitted by law.
