Medical Technologist ASCP Generalist - Full Time Days

Responsibilities

Medical Technologist provides professional, competent, safe, appropriate direct patient care in the analysis of samples from patients age newborn and older;

management of all documentation related to testing and resulting, management of communication between the Laboratory and ancillary and off campus sites, both verbal and hardcopy documents.

Maintains a professional, cooperative interaction with all hospital departments, medical staff, and the public in keeping with the mission and philosophy of Manatee Memorial Hospital.

Always demonstrates Service Excellence. Other duties as assigned.

Job Information :

The Point of Care Technologist maintains our Point of Care regulatory requirements. The Clinical Lab maintains point of care testing in many areas throughout the hospital.

Each of these areas require a commitment to maintain quality and compliance. This includes maintaining Competencies for each end user, review of quality control records, instrument maintenance, review of patient testing results, review of quality metrics, implementation of quality improvements, maintaining and writing policies as indicated by CAP(College of American Pathologists).

The Point of Care department is inspected by the College of American Pathologists. The Point of Care Coordinator leads the lab through that inspection to help maintain our licensure.

Qualifications

Florida State licensure or eligible as a Medical Technologist under the provisions of Chapter 483. Requires licensure in the specialties of Microbiology, Serology / Immunology, Immunohematology, Clinical Chemistry, and / or Hematology based on areas where employed.

Medical Technologist with a minimum of 1 year of current experience.

ASCP certification is preferred.

Excellent interpersonal skills

BS Degree in Medical Technology preferred, or associate level technologist or technician

Competent Computer skills
