Description

The Division of Translational Medicine and Human Genetics is seeking an experienced bioinformatician to take a central role in an established research program employing functional genomics, metabolomics and proteomics.

This individual will provide support to several investigators and will be responsible for planning and conducting complex analyses of small to large datasets.

The successful candidate will be independent, self-driven, and possess excellent organizational and communication skills.

There will be ample opportunity to participate in the preparation of presentations and manuscripts.

Job Duties to included

  • Perform systematic analysis of array data and next-generation sequencing (NGS) data, including RNA-seq / sNucSeq, Chip-seq, MS or NMR metabolomic data and a variety of proteomic data
  • Interact with investigators and assist in experimental design
  • Write computer programs to combine data from multiple sources to allow data analysis and comparison
  • Provide tabular and graphic summaries of analyses in a form suitable for inclusion in manuscripts for publication in peer reviewed scientific journals, as well as for presentation at scientific meetings
  • Assist in the design, development and maintenance of data collection instruments and databases, as well as maintenance of data sharing platform content
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

  • Masters of Science and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Working in bioinformatics and high-throughput genomics, metabolomics and / or proteomics technologies PREFERRED
  • Expertise with command line programming in a shell environment to execute analyses on high performance computing clusters and / or cloud based computing, as well as fluency in statistical and data management computer languages (R, python, SQL)
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks at one time
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

$61,046.00 - $101,200.50 Annual Rate

Salary offers are made based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
