Pension Investments within Treasury is seeking a Treasury Manager , located in Midland (MI, USA) . This role provides an opportunity to implement quantitative risk measurement techniques, develop strategy, manage assets, and work with market makers, hedge funds and other investment professionals.

The successful candidate will have a deep interest in financial markets, a passion and curiosity for learning, and the ability to prudently seek investment objectives.

Dow Pension Investments is a sub function of Treasury, which is a global function within Dow that ensures the Company’s financial flexibility enabling the Company to meet business and corporate strategies in support of our strategic transformation.

Treasury is responsible for the management of the Company’s liquidity, funding and capital and works closely with executive management.

Your responsibilities include :

  • Lead quantitative risk measurement activities for Dow’s corporate derivative overlay strategies and pension assets and liabilities.
  • Lead reporting and analytics related to assets, liabilities, GAAP funding, performance, positioning, analytics and risk management, performance attribution.
  • Assist in developing the asset allocation strategy of $15+ billion of pension and insurance assets to achieve excess return and hedge risks.
  • Implementation of derivative overlay strategies across fixed income, credit, equity, commodity, and foreign exchange asset classes.
  • Advise on optimal long-term strategic allocation for effective asset / liability management.
  • Advise on allocations in re-insurance, absolute return, commodities, opportunistic income.
  • Quantitative and qualitative analysis of hedge fund manager performance.
  • Actively drive the onboarding process of new investment managers / funds, including initial due diligence and negotiating key terms.
  • Conduct economic and capital market research and present assessments to the department, corporate investment committees and reinsurance board.
  • Coordinate with the pension operation team to ensure smooth transaction processing.
  • Collaborate with different stakeholders internally and externally internal compliance and audit, legal and tax team, HR, controllers, treasury, custodian, actuary, external fund managers.

Required qualifications :

A minimum of a Bachelor's degree (preferably in a quantitative field such as Engineering, Finance and / or Economics) or relevant military experience at a U.

S. E6 rank or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or higher.

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience or a combination of an advanced degree in a quantitative field such as Engineering, Finance and / or Economics and relevant experience may be considered.
  • Experience with programming in Excel VBA, SQL, R, or an equivalent language / software.
  • Quantitative modeling training or demonstrated experience (Value at Risk, statistics, derivative valuation, etc.).
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship / support is available for this position, including for any type of U.

S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred qualifications :

  • Prior quantitative risk measurement experience.
  • Experience with trading derivative instruments, measuring their risks, and valuation methods.
  • Master’s degree or higher education (with a finance or quantitative focus preferred).
  • Prior investment management experience.
  • Prior experience in Financial Risk Management, Financial Operations and Financial Planning is desirable. Understanding of financial operations, planning and accounting principles with an understanding of the regulatory and control environment, and business / financial law.
  • Demonstrated competence and interest in mathematical modeling and statistical methods.
  • In-depth understanding of and interest in technology and financial systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
